The children of The First Congregational Church of Ridgefield are at the heart of our life as a church. Children give us the opportunity to teach and model the Christian faith, and to embody Jesus' love of children, and commit to their nurture and inclusion in worship. We offer programs that:

  • Introduce children to the Christian faith and help them grow in their faith in God.
  • Encourage children to begin to understand the history, teachings, moral values, and promises of the Bible.
  • Involve children in Christian mission, serving those in need, in the wider world.
  • Support families as they seek to grow in love and strength.
  • Help guide children in developing a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Led by church volunteers and supported by the Associate Minister, FCC's Family Ministries' programs welcome all children from birth through high school, with age-appropriate curriculum and activities on Sunday mornings. As children grow, it is vital that they develop friendships with peers who are also following Christ. Getting them involved with the Family Ministries' programs now enables them to begin those relationships at an early age. We encourage parents to participate in this journey along with their children, developing a relationship in following Christ together.

"LET THE CHILDREN COME!" (Matthew 19:14)

Children begin worship in the sanctuary with their families. They will be invited to join the Minister at the front of the church for "Let the Children Come," after about 20 minutes. This is a special moment of worship designed specifically to engage the children, before they are escorted to their Sunday School classes.

Childcare/Sunday School
FCC offers a professionally staffed nursery to meet the needs of infants and toddlers, with a parent/nursery beeper communication system for safety and peace of mind. Our nursery features loving staff, a changing table, in-room bathroom, lots of toys, books and fun! We encourage children from birth to age two to join us in the nursery on Sunday mornings!

Childcare and Sunday School classes for preschool through high school aged children are offered year round, and follows age-appropriate biblically-based curriculum. Seasonal activities and programming are added throughout the year to compliment the church's overall mission work, and to highlight Christian holidays.
