Notes on Giving

"Carry each other's burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

This passage from Galatians in the New Testament has a similar message to the Golden Rule. If we can put ourselves in someone else's place and help them with their burdens, we can fulfill the law of Christ. We must think of this now as we consider the situation of all the people in the United States and in the Caribbean who are suffering from the effects of Hurricanes. The United Church of Christ partners with organizations such as Church World Service when there is a need anywhere in the world. We made up hygiene packs, Emergency Clean-up Buckets and made donations toward Hurricane relief. In our own small way we can and do assist in the Response Efforts. We can truly make a difference. They will know we are Christians by our love. Your pledges also mean that we can give help to our neighbors in Connecticut through all of our local mission initiatives. Please consider when you make your pledge this fall how much we do for our neighbors in the United States and our friends all around the world.
