Sunday Mornings In The Commons

Adult Ministries welcomes you for a thought-provoking lineup of classes in March in The Commons at 8:30 am. Coffee and breakfast snacks will be served at all events.

On the 4th, Rabbi John Haddon will join us once again to discuss the Jewish view of the afterlife. Traditional Judaism firmly believes that death is not the end of existence, yet Judaism is primarily focused on life here and now. Therefore, a lot of dogma does not exist, but Jews do have rich, fascinating, speculative texts dating back more than 2000 years concerning life after death. Together we will study both ancient and modern ones.

On the 11th, FCC's Katie Brown, television host, author and lifestyle spokesperson, will share her thoughts on the relationship between food, faith and fellowship.

On the 18th, James Early of First Church of Christ Scientist joins us to share a program from his women's prison ministry. We will examine two main archetypes of womanhood in the Bible and see how various Biblical women fit into those categories. We will look at Sarai/Sarah, Potifar's wife, Zelophehad's daughters, Samson's mother, Jezebel, Abigail and Naaman's wife's maid.

Finally, Christel Autuori, certified health and wellness coach, stress management educator and consultant joins us on the 25th. She will discuss "Health: The Holistic and Integrative Approach" in which we look at health from a multi-dimensional perspective. Using the Duke Wheel of Health as a framework, we will explore components and determinants of health and wellness.
