FCC BECOMES
JERICHO PARTNER CHURCH
First Congregational Church has been welcomed by Jericho Partnership in Danbury as a fully recognized partner church.
This exciting development resulted from a year-long discernment period in our church as we became increasingly involved – in a wide variety of ways, including many individuals and groups in our church – in some of the ministries in the Jericho Partnership. This process culminated with a vote by Church Council, upon the recommendation of our Mission Ministry, to seek partner church status.
The Jericho Partnership is a consortium of social ministries in Danbury, one of which – Amos House – FCC has supported for many years. Others include Christian Community Outreach Ministry (which links with our long-time mission partner Pivot Ministries), Highways and Hedges (HIV ministry), Pathways Academy (charter school), Pathways Danbury (mentoring at-risk high school boys), Athletes of Christ (Hispanic/Brazilian sports ministry), Young Life, Hopeline Pregnancy Resource Center, and Samaritan Health Center (Danbury’s only free pediatric clinic).
Go to www.jerichopartnership.org for a list of other partner churches and links to the ministries under the Jericho Partnership umbrella.
It is important to note that FCC will not be directly involved with or financially supportive of every ministry in the Jericho Partnership. We will not modify or dilute our support of other social agencies in Danbury, including Dorothy Day Hospitality House and the Women’s Center. Meanwhile, we are also seeking a closer relationship with ARC (Association of Religious Communities), which engages in significant ministry in the city.
