DR. TOM JONES OF
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
TO SPEAK AT
300TH ANNIVERSARY BRUNCH IN MAY
As our 300th anniversary in October nears, we focus on the mission of the church in the world. Following our wonderful day with Jan West Schrock of Heifer International, we next welcome Habitat for Humanity’s ambassador-at-large Dr. Tom Jones on Sunday, May 20. After brunch at 11 am he will bring us an in-depth understanding of Habitat, a long-standing mission partner of ours. Reservations are not needed; a free-will offering will be accepted. Childcare will be provided.
FCC’s involvement with Habitat includes several trips to such needy countries as Dominican Republic, Honduras and Guatemala, helping to build houses with hand tools and manual labor. Helping Hands Global Mission is a ChristCare group at our church with a goal to promote international Habitat trips.
As the staff leader for Habitat’s interfaith exploration, Dr. Jones guides efforts to bring together religious faiths to care for the poor, with decent housing as a core issue in overcoming poverty. He has earned the Bachelor of Arts, Master of Divinity, Master of Theology and Doctor of Ministry degrees. As a speaker of national reputation, Dr. Jones will be an engaging and informative speaker.
