At The First Congregational Church every member is encouraged to be involved in ministry. Our mission as a church is to enable one another to explore and deepen our personal faith, to find meaningful ways of serving others, and to reach out in the name of Christ to the wider community. The following ministries empower and guide the life of our church, and provide members with opportunities for mission involvement.

Children's and Family Ministry
From Sunday School to Vacation Bible School to holiday programs and pageants, mission projects and church fellowship, the Children's and Family Ministry nurtures all aspects of First Congregational Church’s child focused programming.

Youth Ministry
The purpose of our Youth Ministry is to lead our youth to an authentic Christian faith by encouraging, teaching, supporting, and equipping them to take the lifelong journey of following God through Christ.

Adult Ministry
Adult Ministries at First Congregational Church offers a variety of dynamic opportunities for education, growth, and fellowship, including book groups, Bible study, interfaith dialog events, fellowship outings, and discussions of life and faith.

Deacon Ministry
The Deacons are elected lay leaders who work directly with the ministers to assist in all worship services: from the preparation and distribution of Holy Communion and the enlistment of ushers and greeters for worship services to arranging visitation of people who are homebound and in special need. Deacons lead the prospective member classes and new member follow-up, along with activities among church committees, ministries, and other groups to support a wide range of activities and programs within the church.

Mission Ministry
The First Congregational Church and its members actively follow the example of Christ with our mission efforts locally and globally. Following in the theme "What would Christ have me do?" FCC's Mission Ministry helps create mission outreach as a way of life within our church.

Stephen Ministry
FCC is dedicated to supporting the spiritual lives and to enriching the spiritual well being of our community. Stephen Ministers are FCC members who receive 50-hours of training, and commissioned to provide in-depth, confidential Christian care for anyone in need.

ChristCare Group Ministry
ChristCare is a ministry of small groups, each guided by a trained leader. These small, caring mini-communities within our church are formed around a topic with Christ at the Center, but each stresses care and community, prayer and worship, Bible study and service to others.

Trustee Ministry
Trustees are stewards of FCC's property and buildings, and are responsible for the oversight of the church financials. They are currently working on a Master Plan for our church.

Music Ministry
Music Ministry supports the church's music programs for adults and children and coordinates, with the Music Minister to bring the Fountain Music Series to the wider community.

The Rev. Dr. William B. Nigh Meditation Garden and Columbarium
The Reverend Dr. William Grant Nigh Meditation Garden and Columbarium was created in memory of a beloved pastor of the church. The Columbarium, with niches in the granite wall or ground level adjacent to the pathway, is a final resting place for the ashes of loved ones. The beautifully landscaped Meditation Garden is a place of peace for all who enter its gates and is used for special outdoor worship, wedding photography, and personal prayer. For information about purchasing a Columbarium niche or dedicating a memorial within the Garden, or on Walk of Faith stones leading to its gate, please contact the church office at 203-438-8077.
